זוהר בראשית — דף קיח ע”ב

Summary

Isaac was so named in order to join water with fire. On “The Lord remembered Sarah,” the sages open with teachings from the Midrash HaNe’elam on “Your head upon you is like Carmel”: the kings of Babylon, and then the soul taken from the throne of glory and the body bound in the grave, which will be rebuilt from a remnant of decay and rise at the resurrection, the righteous shining like the brightness of the firmament. Discussed are the land of Israel and Jerusalem, the three keys held by the Holy One, blessed be He, and “I, and not an angel.” Later Sarah sees Hagar’s son mocking the stars and constellations and says “cast out this maidservant”; the Holy One tells Abraham to heed her voice. Finally the fate of a youth who died young is examined.
