זוהר בראשית — דף קכד ע”ב

Summary

The Zohar concludes its treatment of the days of the righteous and of Ishmael, who returned in repentance, then cites the verse “Sarah died in Kiriath-arba.” Rabbi Abba says that no woman in the world was like Sarah, and he compares Miriam, whose death is mentioned to recall Israel’s failing, since the water came only in her merit. Rabbi Yehuda opens with “Blessed are you, O land, whose king is the son of nobles” and explains that the Torah was given to Israel. The land is the land of life; its king is the son of free men, son of the jubilee, who pours blessings upon the land in the secret of the Vav. Then comes “Woe to you, O land, whose king is a child”: the child has nothing of his own and receives blessings at fixed times; when they are withheld, the moon is diminished and the world is judged by many judgments.
