זוהר בראשית — דף קכח ע”א

Summary

The Zohar continues on the cave: Abraham did not ask at once that it be sold to him but that it be given to him for full money, and Ephron said he was giving him the field and the cave, since all of it was of no account to him and he did not know what it was. On entering, Abraham saw a light, dust was cast before him and two graves appeared; Adam rose in his likeness and smiled, and Abraham knew he would be buried there. In a passage of unclear sense, Abraham questions the Holy One, blessed be He, and the text says He had hidden him there until Abraham came. The verse “the field and the cave were established” means a real rising up. Rabbi Shimon relates that Adam and Eve rose, unwilling to have Sarah buried there out of shame; Abraham undertook to intercede for them before the Holy One, blessed be He.
