זוהר בראשית — דף קמ ע”ב
Summary
The Zohar explains that God strikes the body so that the soul may rule, and that “the righteous is tested” like a touchstone. Adam, Noah, Abraham and Isaac are mentioned: they went down and then rose again, the testing serving to raise their heads. A large part of the page, from the Midrash HaNe’elam, comments on “These are the generations of Isaac” and on the resurrection of the dead: the righteous will shake off the dust, the mandrakes will give forth fragrance, and the future world will bring joy and a feast of the righteous. The text also treats the evil inclination, the liver and the heart alluded to by “the children struggled,” and the forty years preceding the resurrection. Finally it takes up “she is my sister” and the episode of Isaac and Abimelech.
