זוהר בראשית — דף קמא ע”ב

Summary

The Zohar continues on the secret of the well of living waters and the spring, two levels that are one, male and female, the sign of the patriarchs who dig a well; “he called it Rehovot” hints that his sons would tend this well through sacrifices and burnt offerings. Rabbi Shimon expounds “Wisdom cries aloud outside, in the squares she raises her voice”: the supreme wisdom is concealed, and when it spreads it illumines the world to come; from fire, water and wind a voice is formed that is heard outside. The squares are the firmament from which the river of Eden flows. The verse from Proverbs, “Prepare your work outside,” is cited, and the building of the house signifies the soul within the body. The text then moves to “Isaac was old” and to the light of day, which is Abraham.
