זוהר בראשית — דף קמה ע”א
Summary
Rabbi Yehuda says that Jacob was punished for his father’s fright through the loss of Joseph, and reads “great” and “very” as allusions to Gehenna and the angel of death. Rabbi Ḥiya comments on Esau’s tears, on his remark about the name Jacob and “he has supplanted me these two times,” and on Isaac’s words “by your sword you shall live”; Rabbi Elazar adds that this has not yet been fulfilled and points to the end of days. Then Rabbi Ḥiya and Rabbi Yose walk along the road, and Rabbi Yose expounds “She opens her mouth with wisdom, and a law of kindness is on her tongue”: the Assembly of Israel, the letter bet of Bereshit, Abraham, the first and last he of the Name, and the voice, which is Jacob, guiding the speech.
