זוהר בראשית — דף קמח ע”ב
Summary
David invited the King and the Matron to rest and changed the order of the entertainers, so that it is the priests and the pious who gladden Him, rather than the Levites; God accepts this, and a guest does the will of his host. One of the sons reads “Jacob left Beer-sheba” as “therefore a man shall leave his father,” and as an allusion to Israel’s departure from the Temple into exile. The other explains “he encountered the place” through the parable of the king who goes to the Matron and gives up his own bed to give her pleasure. Rabbi Isaac weeps and rejoices, reports the matter to Rabbi Shimon, who says that these words come from the grandsons of Rabbi Tzadok the Weak.
