זוהר בראשית — דף קסא ע”ב
Summary
The Zohar completes its explanation of “they conceived” and turns to “Jacob took fresh rods of poplar.” Rabbi Elazar comments on “for the Lord has chosen Jacob for Himself”: the Holy One, blessed be He, took Jacob as His portion. In a passage marked as an addition (tosefta), the text describes the hidden supernal secret from which the letters Yod, He, and Vav emerge, the thirteen attributes, and the white that rises above the colors; Samael, Abaddon, and Death are also mentioned there. Then the white poplar is the white degree of the right side, and the hazel and chestnut the red degree of the left. Jacob removed judgment from them and joined it to the right, in order to draw blessings to the worlds.
