זוהר בראשית — דף קסז ע”ב

Summary

Rabbi Yehuda says that one who is holy makes use of holiness, while impurity presents itself to one who is impure. Rabbi Yitzhak and Rabbi Yose discuss Jacob’s words, “I have an ox and a donkey”: Jacob explains that one should not dwell on his father’s blessings, which had not been fulfilled in him, so that Esau would not accuse him. Rabbi Abba stresses that “the simple man” was not defiled by Laban’s sorcery. The messengers say “we came to your brother Esau” and “four hundred men with him”; Jacob was afraid, since the righteous rely on their prayers, of which Sandalphon makes a crown. Rabbi Shimon says that the prayer of the many contains many shades. The passage ends as Rabbi Yehuda opens with “blessed is the man who fears always.”
