זוהר בראשית — דף קעא ע”ב

Summary

Rabbi Yesa the Elder infers from the word “touched” that this place became impure and that one may derive no benefit from it, and he blesses the Torah given to Israel. Then comes the question: how could Jacob bow to Esau, when it is written “You shall not bow to another god”? The text answers that he bowed to the Divine Presence walking before him, not to Esau. Next comes the verse “Esau ran to meet him and embraced him”: “his neck,” in the singular, refers to Jerusalem, which was destroyed twice; the kiss is marked with dots because it was not given willingly, like the kisses of an enemy; Rabbi Yose cites “you have broken the teeth of the wicked.” “And they wept”: each wept for a different reason.
