זוהר בראשית — דף קעג ע”א
Summary
The Zohar continues with Simeon and Levi against the donkey, and links Joseph the ox with Egypt, whose “flesh is the flesh of donkeys”; Levi is Moses, and there first came blood, then the death of the firstborn. Jacob and Joseph are fire and flame, and the house of Esau is straw. “A terror from God” fell on the cities, and they did not pursue the sons of Jacob. “Put away the foreign gods” refers to the silver and gold objects taken from Shechem, or, in another view, to the women and their ornaments; Jacob buried them. Rabbi Hizkiah and Rabbi Yehuda discuss the crown of “Malkam” taken by David: Ittai the Gittite defaced the image on it, and it became permitted.
