זוהר בראשית — דף קעה ע”ב
Summary
The Zohar explains “Reuben went and lay with Bilhah”: after Leah and Rachel died, the Divine Presence remained in Bilhah’s tent, and Reuben disturbed the bed, so the count of the tribes was not impaired. Rabbi Yehuda opens with “For the ways of the Lord are right”: the righteous know the paths of the Torah and walk in them, while transgressors stumble in them. The soul of one who engages in Torah ascends by its paths after death; “When you lie down, it shall watch over you” means that in the grave the Torah guards him. At the resurrection the Holy One, blessed be He, will stir a spirit that includes the four winds; the text asks why the dead in Ezekiel’s vision did not endure.
