זוהר בראשית — דף קפט ע”א

Summary

The Zohar describes the three camps of angels who sing at night and at dawn, and the holy being appointed over them above and over Israel below. It comments on the verses “She rises while it is yet night” and “He speaks to the sun and it does not shine,” applied to Joseph and Jacob. It then turns to “The Lord was with Joseph”: Rabbi Yose explains that wherever the righteous go, the Holy One, blessed be He, guards them. Joseph went down to Egypt, the Divine Presence was with him, and everything he did prospered; his master saw miracles with his own eyes. The wicked are blessed because of the righteous. Yet Joseph was put in prison, until he was released and placed over all the land of Egypt.
