זוהר בראשית — דף קצג ע”ב
Summary
The Zohar explains that “at the end” denotes a place without remembrance, and that “and he forgot him” points to the end of the side of darkness; the “two years” mark the return of the level to the place of remembrance. Pharaoh dreamed he stood by the river, which is Joseph the righteous. Rabbi Hiyya expounds “The king establishes the land by justice”: the king is the Holy One, blessed be He, and justice is Jacob; other readings take justice to be Joseph, or Joseph as king and Jacob as justice, by whose merit the famine ended, or King David, while “the man of gifts” is Rehoboam or Pharaoh. Rabbi Elazar applies “The Lord lives, and blessed be my Rock” to the righteous, foundation of the world, and “Blessed be the Lord, day by day” to the two years. From the river rise the seven fair cows, and this river blesses all of Egypt.
