זוהר בראשית — דף רג ע”ב

Summary

The Zohar explains that at night harmful guardians and accusers hold sway, and withdraw when Abraham’s morning arrives; “they and their donkeys” are those accusers and the keepers of the statutes from the side of impurity. Rabbi Ḥiyya opens with “the sun of righteousness shall rise for you who fear My name”: the sun that the Holy One, blessed be He, set aside, away from the wicked, since the creation; it shone for Jacob and healed his thigh, and it will shine for Israel and heal the lame and the blind; according to the text, the idolatrous nations will be burned by it. The text then returns to “To Joseph were born two sons,” and Rabbi Yitzhak opens with “The remnant of Jacob shall be among the nations”; he describes a bird in the tree of the Garden of Eden and a herald who addresses those who do not labor in the Torah.
