When a righteous person passes away, his soul ascends. Whoever accompanies the deceased is as if he accompanies the Divine Presence. When Jacob died, all the angels wept, for since the day Jacob was born, the Divine Presence had rested upon him. Every escorting of the dead is an honor to the departing soul, for at that moment it stands before the King.
