Joseph returned to Egypt after burying his father, for his greatness was in the merit of his father. When Jacob died, the brothers feared that Joseph might take revenge on them. But Joseph told them: "Am I in the place of God?" The secret is that one who forgives merits great spiritual elevations. Joseph exemplifies forgiveness and magnanimity toward those who had wronged him.
