Joseph lived one hundred and ten years, and the Holy One compensated him with ten extra years for the ten years he was separated from his father. The secret is that every year taken from Joseph was returned in full. The principle of measure for measure also operates in favor of the righteous. Honoring one parents is a path to long life. Joseph, the model of filial devotion, received his reward in years of life.
