When Moses saw the burning bush, he understood that the Shekhinah was within it. The bush symbolizes Israel in exile, and the fire within it is the Shekhinah that remains with Israel. The consolation is that the fire does not consume the bush, just as exile cannot annihilate Israel. The divine presence burns without destroying, a sign that persecution cannot erase the chosen people. The secret revealed to Moses in the bush is the secret of the final redemption.
