זוהר שמות — דף טז ע”ב

Summary

Rabbi Yehouda and Rabbi Abba were traveling and lodged in a place where there was a grave. A voice emerged from the tomb saying: my seed is going to the earth. The voice revealed it was sitting in a state of rebuke in the next world, due to the suffering of a son whose sandals had been stolen by a non-Jew when he was a child. This suffering prevented the deceased Jew from entering his place in the upper world, and he had not stirred for twelve years. Rabbi Yehouda asked the voice about its fate and the appearance of his son, and the voice responded that the next world is structured according to one's deeds.
