Every human being is composed of four elements, and four angels descend with him from the right and four from the left. The good inclination and the evil inclination judge the intermediate person, and a person's mazal determines which angel comes first. When merits are many, the camps of the yetzer hatov rule all his limbs; when sins are many, the camps of the yetzer hara rule. Thus is measured the power of choice and action in determining a person's destiny.
