Rabbi Elazar teaches that there are many divine chariots above, grades upon grades, and from the left side arise the chariots of impurity. The firstborn of Pharaoh was the supreme grade that the Holy One shattered, and when the upper forces were broken all the lower ones were broken too. The ten plagues were a single hand, the left included in the right, corresponding to the ten divine utterances. In the future God will destroy the armies of Edom, as it is said: Who comes from Edom in crimson garments from Botsrah. God created seven firmaments, and above them all Aravot, whose brilliance illuminates all the others.
