The portion transitions from Yitro to Mishpatim. At the moment Israel stood at Mount Sinai, all the secrets of the Torah and supernal and lower secrets did not depart from them, for they saw face to face the splendor of their Master's glory. The discussion continues to the opening of parashat Mishpatim and "These are the ordinances" in relation to the letter vav connecting the two portions. The hint in the joining of the portions reveals that all the ordinances draw from the divine order revealed at Sinai. Rabbi Shimon interprets the first verse of Mishpatim as an introduction to the divine order of judgment.
