זוהר שמות — דף קז ע”ב
Summary
David was not worthy of that sin — he committed it to give sinners an opening for repentance. His heart was hollow, without evil blood or evil inclination. Shim'i ben Gera caused David more suffering than all his enemies, but David gave no reply, recognizing it came from on high for his benefit. Solomon commanded Shim'i — his Torah teacher — to remain in Jerusalem so Torah would flourish through him and not depart.
