One who did not guard the holiness and uprooted it from its place is like a man who rebels against his Master, and it is forbidden to draw close to him. The Holy One Blessed Be He created man in the supernal image and breathed into him a holy spirit comprising three parts: nefesh, ruach, and neshamah. The neshamah is the supreme power for knowing and keeping commandments. One who defiles his soul in foreign service leaves the service of his Creator, and about him it is written: "Cease from man."
