The Holy One blessed be He did much good for Israel through every generation, sending Moses, Aaron, and Miriam: Moses brought the manna, Aaron the clouds of glory, and Miriam the well. Israel ate and drank from what these leaders provided yet gave nothing back, even insulting them. The Holy One saw Moses silent and hinted to him with the words "now let Me be," whereupon Moses grasped the divine arm saying "remember Abraham" and the strap of punishment did not descend. The Holy Mother was always the guarantor for Israel, her intercessions holding back divine anger.
