זוהר בראשית — דף עד ע”ב

Summary

The text links “as they journeyed from the east” with separation, and explains that these people left the one faith for another domain, like Nimrod in Babylon. In additional passages it says that those who spoke the holy tongue wished, by a counsel of wisdom, to build a city and a tower to strengthen the Other Side on earth; the Lord came down and confounded their language into seventy languages. Mentioned are the appointed officer of the firmament, the plain, Ezekiel’s bones and Nebuchadnezzar’s statue. Finally Rabbi Hiyya opens with “the wicked are like the troubled sea” and compares them to the sea that casts up mire and mud.
