זוהר בראשית — דף עו ע”ב

Summary

Rabbi Hiyya explains that the builders found secrets of wisdom from the ancients, and that “one people and one language” expresses one heart, one will and the holy tongue; therefore the judgment above could not rule over them until the Lord confounded their language. Rabbi Yose infers that those who quarrel have no lasting existence, and Rabbi Hiyya cites the prophecy of a pure language in the future and of the Lord being one and His name one. Rabbi Abba opens with “Listen to me, you stubborn of heart, who are far from righteousness,” about the wicked who do not repent, and Rabbi Hizkiyah adds that they are far from peace. Finally, Abraham loved righteousness and drew near.
