זוהר בראשית — דף צד ע”ב

Summary

The companions tell Rabbi Abba that this place has enabled them to merit Torah: half the night they sleep and half they study. Rabbi Abba blesses them. In the morning the children announce that fire from above is summoned for that day and that an elder is destined to be burned in it. The companions see the face of the Divine Presence, the house is bound by smoke, and they renew words of Torah as though receiving it at Sinai. One explains the verse “Blessed is the one You choose and bring near, to dwell in Your courts”: courts, house and palace are rungs, each more inward than the last. He explains that one who brings his son into the covenant draws near to the Holy One, blessed be He, and describes the blessings said at the circumcision and the order of the requests, first for oneself and then for all.
