זוהר בראשית — דף קלה ע”ב

Summary

Rabbi Yitzhak and Rabbi Yehuda join one another, and Rabbi Yitzhak explains “Beer Lahai Roi”: the well is the Divine Presence, “Lahai” is the righteous one, the life of the worlds, and she shines when she sees him, like the moon seeing the sun. Rabbi Yehuda reads “a spring of gardens, a well of living waters” as Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Benayahu son of Yehoyada, “son of a living man,” lit up his generation as the Living One above does. “Isaac dwelt at Beer Lahai Roi” means that he united with Rebecca and awakened love; the text adds that God blessed Isaac after Abraham’s death so that the blessing would not go to Esau.
