זוהר בראשית — דף קמג ע”א

Summary

According to the Zohar, Jacob recited the psalm “In my distress I called to the Lord” when he feared being recognized by his father, and the “lying tongue” refers to the serpent that brought curses upon the world. When Isaac said “I will bless you before the Lord,” the throne of glory trembled; with Jacob the Divine Presence entered, with Esau Gehenna entered, hence “Isaac trembled.” Jacob’s blessings were taken from the serpent, measure for measure. The text comments on “of the dew of heaven and the fat of the earth” and “plenty of grain and wine,” then on “peoples shall serve you” in the time of Solomon and at the coming of the Messiah. “Be master over your brothers” is read through the letters of faith, in the days of David or of the Messiah. Rabbi Yose says that all these blessings belonged to Jacob’s portion.
