זוהר בראשית — דף קסא ע”א

Summary

The passage continues with God’s word to Jacob, “return to the land of your fathers” and “I will be with you,” and then with Laban’s words about the “female” as wages; Jacob replies that everything he did was for the honor of the King. Rabbi Elazar asks how Jacob, who clung to truth, acted this way toward Laban, and answers that Jacob examined the hour of his mazal and obtained Laban’s permission. The text tells of the flock’s blessing that came to Laban because of Jacob, and then of the changes of wages. Rabbi Elazar teaches that things depend on deed, speech, and will, and explains the sticks as degrees of judgment from which the judgment is removed, and the channels (rehatim) and troughs as the source of blessings; “they conceived” is explained through the north wind and the south wind.
