זוהר בראשית — דף קפג ע”א
Summary
On “Joseph dreamed a dream,” Rabbi Ḥiya opens with “I make Myself known to him in a vision, I speak with him in a dream” and sets out levels upon levels. The prophets draw from levels that appear in the mirror that does not shine, and the dream is one-sixtieth of prophecy, at the level of Gabriel; this is why it contains both truth and falsehood, and it follows the interpretation. When a person goes up to his bed, he must first take upon himself the kingship of heaven; his soul goes out, ascends and receives an announcement through an angel. A dream should be told only to one who loves you, and Joseph told it to his brothers, thereby causing a delay of twenty-two years. The brothers said, “Shall you indeed reign over us?” and issued a decree.
