Rabbi Shimon said: all the exiles were redeemed through the merit of the patriarchs. The exile of Egypt was redeemed through Abraham. The exile of Babylon through Isaac. The exile of Edom — in which we find ourselves now — will be redeemed through Jacob. This is what is written: Therefore fear not, My servant Jacob. Faith is the foundation upon which the world stood and by which it will be redeemed.
