Rabbi Elazar teaches that when the Holy One has mercy on Israel, He subdues the attribute of Judgment and lowers it into the sea of Wisdom to sweeten it. The two tears represent the two attributes of Judgment that descend into the great sea. When the dominion of the celestial minister is removed, so is the dominion below. On the day all ministers fall, the Holy One alone will be exalted.
