Just as Moses was distinguished from all prophets by a supreme sacred prophecy, Balaam was distinguished by an impure prophecy. Both came from opposite poles: Moses from above, Balaam from below. The paracha Va'era opens with the revelation of the explicit Name to the patriarchs, who did not know it by the Name Havaya. The new revelation is the good news for Israel.
