Rabbi Shimon discusses the secret of the supernal Merkavah: the Holy One removed the wheel of Egypt s chariot. The pillar of cloud separating Israel from Egypt is the supreme separation between light and darkness. At the splitting of the sea, the unity of Israel with its Patriarchs was revealed, the chosen and filial relationship that manifested at the shore of the Red Sea.
