זוהר שמות — דף נט ע”א

Summary

The cosmic Tree is the root to which Israel clings, and the seventy bulls of Sukkot bring peace to the seventy branches of that tree. Mi kamokha ba-elim alludes to this supernal Tree which, even while ruling, guards and has compassion on all creatures. Actions performed for the sake of Heaven become a sacred Hevel that rises, adorns itself and creates a defense advocate before the King. Actions not performed for the sake of Heaven create an impure Hevel that rolls through the world after death, spinning the soul like a stone in a sling. Tsedaka alone transcends the sun, for it is the only Hevel that is a sacred act without annulment.
