The upright in His eyes is the Tsaddiq, and one must guard that the handmaid not inherit from her mistress. Chagor harbekha al yarekha refers to the holy seal that must be guarded by subduing the evil inclination. Israel did not approach Mount Sinai until they had entered the portion of the Tsaddiq. The Holy Blessed One did not wish to give the Torah until Israel drew near to Him through the revelation of the seal. Happy is one who is wise toward the poor, and happy is one who in an evil day is generous and compassionate — for the love of the Holy Blessed One will defend him and extend His right hand toward him.
