Folio 126b opens the Torah portion of Terumah (offering) and treats the Holy One's love for Israel. Rabbi Hiya opens with the verse “for Jacob is the choice of the divine, Israel is His treasure.” How beloved Israel is before the Holy One, who chose them and wished to cleave to them and to bind Himself to them. He made them a singular nation in the world, and Israel also desired Him. Therefore the Holy One commanded to receive voluntary offerings of the heart for the building of the Tabernacle.
