זוהר בראשית — דף עד ע”א
Summary
The Zohar concludes the account of Nimrod and Adam’s garments, then opens with the verse “the whole earth had one language and the same words” and with the verse about building the Temple, “the house, when it was being built.” Rabbi Shimon explains that the house was built almost by itself, like the menorah, and that the craftsmen learned the work through the blessing of the Holy One, blessed be He, without iron tools. He then describes the expansion of the supernal thought: from hidden thought to will, to voice, to speech, so that everything is built each time. He finally returns to “as they journeyed from the east, they found a plain in the land of Shinar,” the place of dispersion.
