זוהר בראשית — דף צג ע”א
Summary
Rabbi Abba opens again with “Your people shall all be righteous” and asks why it is written so, when there are wrongdoers among Israel. The answer: Israel offers its sons as a sacrifice on the eighth day, and once circumcised they enter the portion of the righteous one and are called righteous. The text examines why Abraham was called by that name only after the circumcision, when the letter heh joined him and the Divine Presence rested on him, and the difference between the small heh and the large heh. Rabbi Abba stresses that whoever guards the sign of the covenant does not descend to Gehinnom, and describes how Elijah is summoned to the circumcision and a chair is prepared for him. At the end the host says his wife asked them to stay the next day for the circumcision of their son, and they stay.
