זוהר שמות — דף כ ע”א

Summary

The Zohar explains the distinction between crying out (tze'akah) and supplication (shav'ah). The cry comes from the heart alone and surpasses all prayer and sighing. Samuel cried out all night when God repented of making Saul king. The cry tears the decree of judgment and dominates the attribute of Judgment on high. Rabbi Shimon teaches that all worlds were created in a single thought which is Wisdom.
