The splitting of the Red Sea is not difficult for Him, for He rebukes the sea and dries it up. Jonah fled from the Holy One, blessed be He, knowing one cannot escape from Him anywhere, but he wanted the punishment to fall on himself and not on Israel. Jonah knew that the sea is the secret of Judgment and Kingdom, and his submersion in the sea signals the tiqqun of the soul in the secret of teshuvah. The secret of the great fish and He who calls to the waters of the sea is the secret of the Holy One, blessed be He, who rules over all.
