זוהר ויקרא — דף ח ע”א

Summary

R. Acha opens with "God came to Avimelech in a dream," explaining that each nation is given a delegated power among the seventy crowns, while the Name of the Holy One, blessed be He, is entrusted only to Israel. The sins of people below cause a blemish above, and the offering comes to draw the upper and lower worlds together and reunite them. R. Yehuda opens with "Serve the Lord with joy" and asks how someone who sinned and comes with a broken spirit could serve joyfully; the answer is that the priests and Levites complete the joy and song on his behalf, so the service is made whole.
