זוהר בראשית — דף צה ע”ב

Summary

The Zohar explains that, according to the text, those who are not circumcised cling to lower crowns and to the letters shin and dalet; after circumcision a yod is added and the name Shaddai is inscribed. The verse “Walk before Me and be perfect” means: be complete through the mark of the yod. One who is circumcised does not descend to Gehinnom, and Rabbi Abba blesses the companions. Another comments on the verses “Blessed are you, O land, when your king is a son of nobles” and “Woe to you, O land, when your king is a child”: the first refers to the upper land, the land of life, the second to the lower land. He says that other lands receive appointed princes over them, whereas Israel does not draw from that side but from the holy place above. Finally Rabbi Abba opens with the verse “Let me sing for my beloved.”
