זוהר בראשית — דף קצ ע”א
Summary
The Zohar continues on the one who engages in Torah: he inherits this world even if he does not study for its own sake, and the upper world when he does. It comments on “Length of days is in her right hand, in her left riches and honor.” Rabbi Hiyya used to pray for those who study Torah; one day he saw a student with a pallid face, suspected of sinful thoughts, and calmed him with words of Torah. Rabbi Yose and Rabbi Elazar teach that Torah is the remedy against evil thoughts. The Other Side accuses before the Holy One, blessed be He, who gives Israel a counsel to escape it: the shofar on Rosh Hashanah and the scapegoat on Yom Kippur. The ways of the Torah are peace, and happy is Israel, attached to Him.
