זוהר בראשית — דף ר ע”א

Summary

The Zohar continues on the subject of dreams: the righteous, like Daniel, receive true revelations, whereas David saw dreams of calamity because he waged wars and shed blood. Even the righteous are shown a bad dream, so that the fear of their Master remains upon them. A person who has had a dream should tell it to those who love him, so that they interpret it for good. During sleep the soul wanders through the world above: that of the righteous ascends, while others cling to another side, which tells them false things. The text then asks why an alef is missing from the brothers’ word “nahnu” (“we are”) and restored in “anahnu,” and why Scripture says “the banner of the camp of Ephraim” and not of Joseph. It concludes that the Divine Presence did not leave those who were speaking.
