The Zohar explains that the term “ha-isha” refers to the Shekhinah, and that bat Levi become isha represent the same spiritual degree. The three months she hid him are Tamuz, Av and Tevet — the months of intense divine rigor. Before descending into this world, Moses existed above, and souls of the righteous dwell in the upper realms before their descent. The basket of reeds covered with two colors (white and black) alludes to the Ark of the Covenant and Moses’ future ascent to Mount Sinai to receive the Torah.
