זוהר שמות — דף יב ע”ב

Summary

Pharaoh's daughter descending to bathe in the Nile symbolizes the Attribute of Judgment descending to wash in the blood of Israel when they abandon the Torah. Rabbi Yehudah teaches that everything depends on prayer and repentance, especially tears — there is no gate they cannot open. “Vatiftah” (she opened) represents the Shekhinah who always intercedes for Israel. The weeping child is Israel, and his tears abolish harsh decrees. Israel's redemption will come through weeping, when the tears Esau shed before his father are exhausted.
